Walk and Sketch 2
26th - 30th September
Tutor: Jonathan Shearer
On this course we will explore the Landscape of the North West highlands on foot collecting information in the form of drawing and painting in sketch books. We will then look at how to develop the collected information into studio based work.
The walks will be short excursions into the landscape allowing plenty of time to sketch and paint in the landscape. There will also be studio time so we can look at how to work from our sketches and studies made outside.
During the course we will look at a variety of ways to work with materials in sketchbooks. We will also look at working in oils or acrylics outside. We will look at composition and colour in-depth and I will set a series of exercises, such as, how to work with a limited palette and colour/tone value exercises. I will also do a variety of demonstrations throughout the course.
This kind of experience will help the artist to absorb the surroundings and get a greater understanding of the unique landscape of the Northwest highlands. This course will help the artist in their ability to express, through painting and drawing , their response to landscape.
This course is suitable for all levels from beginners to experienced artists.
