Weather and Atmosphere – Capturing the landscape in water based media

24th - 28th April 2022

Tutor: Katharine Holmes

Places available

Katharine welcomes students of all abilities who want to learn
how to capture the rugged Scottish landscape and weather.
Katharine’s mixed media technique – blending, tangling and
spattering is inherently full of change and captures the
atmosphere of the landscape. Working with mixed media –
watercolour, acrylic, pastels and inks and the emphasis will be
on experimentation and enjoyment.

Guidance and demonstrations will be given either in the studio
or outdoors. Katharine particularly enjoys working individually
with students to extend their technical abilities and develop their
own response to the landscape. Guidance will be given on using
sketchbooks and gathering information in the landscape from
which to develop finished paintings in the studio. When weather
permits there will be plenty of opportunity to sketch and paint
outdoors.
