Walk, Draw, Connect

Saturday 15th - Friday 21st September 2018

Tutor: Christine Morrison

Places available

Walk, Draw, Connect – drawing out the land with Christina Morrison. A series of daily walks will allow you to discover this remote and beautiful area. Through mark making and drawing you will develop a direct connection to place. Each day, homemade sketchbooks will be used to gather information and to record a personal response to the environment in which you find yourself.

The walks will be slightly longer each day and the responses will progress and build on what has been learnt before, thus introducing students to ways of seeing and experiencing the landscape that may be new to them. There will be an emphasis on taking the time to ‘just be’ in the landscape.

There will be opportunities, especially on the last day, for students to work in the studio in order to create a more considered final piece that will include elements and observations from the previous days.

This course is suitable for beginners and to those more experienced. The walks will be following hill paths, with nothing too strenuous, but students must be happy to walk over the occasional area of open ground. Good walking boots, a rucksack and walking stick are essential items to bring. This will be a wonderful opportunity to get away from the road and experience the hidden scenery beyond.
