On this course we will explore the Landscape of the North West highlands on foot collecting information in the form of drawing and painting in sketchbooks. We will then look at how to develop the collected information into studio based work. I will tailor the walks to the ability and needs of group.I will give detailed information on routes and timings of walks.Information will also be provided on the kit required. I have an intimate knowledge of the area from the high mountains down to the lochs and glens.
We will look at what kind of kit is required for these excursions and how to sketch/collect information in situ.I will also give demonstrations of how to work in these environments including how to use oil paint in small pochade boxes in situ.
This kind of experience will help the artist to absorb the surroundings and get a greater understanding of mountain environment. For me landscape is not a singular view or scene it is a journey into the wilderness, which creates a greater understanding of the nature, geology and wildlife of this unique area.
This course would suit people that enjoy walking with reasonable fitness and who don’t mind a little exposure to the highland climate. This course is suitable for all levels from beginners to experienced artists.
