Frances Hatch

Frances has long enjoyed the challenge of seeking to communicate, through painted and drawn marks, sensations experienced in the landscape. The varied and very beautiful environment will provide a multitude of visual treats for the group — and a good deal of time will be spent working outside. Frances will suggest ways of observing and recording our experiences bymaking marks in a variety of ways. We will be working economically to obtain lively and immediate images. There will be opportunity to work locally around Loch Kishorn as well as short expeditions in to the surrounding landscape.

Frances is an experienced tutor and in the course of her working life has come to endeavour to discern the unique 'voice' of each student and encourage the individual to flourish.

The weather may well 'participate' generously in the workand students will need to be prepared to welcome whatever happens. All water-based media arewelcome. Drawing techniques and a variety of tools will be used in the image-making process. Therewill be regular opportunities to reflect on our experiences back in the studio.
